|
|
I have a 400 mhz Powerbook G3 (aka Pismo) and I was thinking about some upgrades to this machine or buying a Mac Mini, then suddenly thought if its possible to replace all the Powerbook internal hardware with the Miniīs
Maybe what I am thinking is really silly, but I want opinions if it is possible, very difficult/risky or not possible at all.
The dimensions of both machines are similar, the hard disk, cd writer, memory, almost everything in the Mini is made for portable computers, so I guess that the most difficult part can be to connect the Mini with the internal Display, keyboard and trackpad.
Besides that I suppose that the thermal issues can be really important so any help in this area will be really appreciated.
I know, I am talking about a 4+ years old model to be mixed with a Mini, but think the potencial of this:
- The Pismo G3 is a Wonderful machine (IMO nicer than a PB G4)
- Transforming it in a 1,2 or 1,4 Ghz G4 mutant for $499 will be really awesome (a 550 mhz. G4 processor only upgrade for the Pismo is about $350) Not to mention that will put all Tibooks and almost any Albook in shame.
Ok thatīs the idea and thanks for your interest and comments
