I've decided to upgrade to an internal Dual-Layer Superdrive.
Two quick questions
1. Is the optical drive and hard drive on the same IDE channel, with optical drive being set as the slave drive?
2. Cheapest place to buy a DL drive? _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

I saw that about being discontinued on 6/10:? I wonder if MWave is reputable? Might have to sh*t or get off the pot on this one. Did you install one? _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

Like I said I don't know how reputable the company is that I posted the link for, but at 99$ they are the cheapest! I guess if you could call them and use CC over the phone you should be protected.
Phone Sales Department
M-F 7:00am to 6:00pm PST
Sat. 8:30am to 3:00pm PST
1-800-234-3358 Toll-free
1-909-594-9840 Local
1-909-839-7684 Fax
they seem legit even give their addy and map directions in Walnut, Ca.
I bought my super drive from OWC they were quick and courtious and even helped me trouble shoot a prob I had on another machine.
the actual swap itself took maybe 5 min to do,I also changed my HD to a seagate 100gb while I was in there and pulled the resistor off of my logic board to overclock my 1.25 to 1.50ghz!
when I rebooted machine everything worked fine, burnt cd/dvds/dldvd NP drive was recognised by system properly. HD is great and best yet system is recognised as a 1.5ghz and its even faster than my 17" 1.5ghz powerbook at less than 1/4 price.
this weekend I'm gonna see if push to 1.67ghz will work and also I'm working on and believe I figured out how to incorperate an ipod dock to connections on ide board and will be installing a 6 card reader internally to my mini.

@ outlaw20
I use mine w/toast and have burnt over 50 cd's and about 15 dvd's since my install w/no coasters and like I said machine recognises it. I'll post a snapshot of my system info tomm for anyone who has any doubts. |
