DVD _CD combo on a G3 800mhz machine?

mine only has a Cd player (Is this right??) fancy upgrading to a combo drive. Will it work in my ibook???

acording to th especs..its just a cd/drive. so the quaestion remains: will a combo fit and work??

It would probably be better to just add an external FireWire drive. Then, you would have two, and could use it on other Macs in the future.

like the idea of having to carry less ! Thats why I changed to Macs! smaller and easier to work with.

So internal is what I am looking for.

Cheers for your help. I have found a few repairers in London who carry sttock of new and S/H parts. Ive had a quote of £100 fitted an dwith a guarantee.
