dont have th elaptop yet (Ebay ,won today !)

how many chips does it take ? and whhat type can I use. would like to get as close to 1gb without too much cost etc

I would replace the 128 MB module with a 512 MB module, for a total of 768 MB.

I don't know. It's just that when I used the search tool, I didn't see an 800 MHz G3 listed, but there is a G4.

Apple-history.com lists it as a 750fx processor. You seem to have an iBook. These are listed as having one memory slot, but apparently there is 128 MB of RAM not in a slot. If you have 384 MB and want to upgrade, you will need to replace a 256 MB module with a 512 MB module, for a total of 640 MB.
