Apple releases Boot Camp 1.1
Tuesday, August 15, 2006 - 11:59 PM EST
Apple has released the Boot Camp 1.1 beta, an update to its beta technology that allows users to run Microsoft Windows on Intel-based Macs. According to Apple, the Boot Camp 1.1 beta contains many updates and is intended for all new and previous Boot Camp beta users.
New features include:
- Support for the latest Intel-based Macs
- Easier partitioning using presets for popular sizes
- The ability to install Windows XP on any internal disk
- iSight camera support
- Support for built-in microphones
- Right-click when pressing the right-hand Apple key on Apple keyboards
- Improved Apple keyboard support including Delete, PrintScreen, NumLock, and ScrollLock keys.
Apple notes while users do not need to partition their hard drive again, it is very important to update the Boot Camp Assistant software, create a new Macintosh Drivers for Windows CD and install the updated software it contains on Windows XP.

Oh yeah, now only if I had an Intel Mac and the desire to run Windows. Definitely want one, but not the latter. _________________

The good:
It fixed the sound card issue. The internal speaker cuts off now when something is plugged into the out jack.
The bad:
The clock issue still remains. |

No, you don't. I just did this last nite.
When you're running the installer, it detects whether you're doing a fresh install or an upgrade and you just follow prompts to update it.
After that, start BootCamp and burn a new drivers disc and then restart and go into Windows, load the new driver disc and let it install the new drivers and you're done. |

I'm pretty sure you have to use the full version. Check Apple's website. |

the ways that I know of:
1- plug in a usb cd drive into mini and load orig OS disc you need to point to during install.
2- Take off outside case of mini, during install of XP short out the terminals on combo/super drive so that disk ejects. Then put in OS that will verify install, eject again and put XP disk in to finish.
3-google how to slipstream necessary files into new image of upgrade disk and while doing that you might as well turn it also into un-assisted install.
there are also many other ways to do which I don't think are allowed to be mentioned here.
enjoy

im still waiting for a apple remote driver so i can use windows media center edition with a remote controll
and worse they need to fix the sound card drivers still
here is what you dont understand the driver for the sound card in windows only works in windows xp professional doesn't work in home edition gives you a installer error if you try unless they fixed home edition worse if you hve mediacenter edition which is windows xp profession with the media center application installed you cannot use the sound card driver because the stupid company that produced the sound card for the mac mini only has drivers for windowss pro and home from there site
'
sucks when you use a cheap sound card |

Just get an OEM version. It's far cheaper than the retail version and is exactly the same, bar the fact that once installed, it's tied to that computer. |

Yes, you need to burn a new Macintosh Drivers for Windows CD
| Quote: | Updating to Boot Camp 1.1 beta
If you previously installed Boot Camp beta, you should update to Boot Camp 1.1 beta. You don't need to partition your hard drive again (unless you want to change its size) or reinstall your Macintosh and Windows software or documents, but it's very important to update the Boot Camp Assistant software, create a new Macintosh Drivers for Windows CD and install the updated software it contains on Windows XP. Complete instructions are provided in the Installation and Setup Guide included with the Boot Camp 1.1 beta software. |
