Nope.

I choose to stay away from topics on politics, guns and religion. People end up fighting.

I found this on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/August_22

I know it's cadillac being founded, day a bunch of stuff happened during WWII, some other stuff?

Also, is this Julian or Georgian calender? It's a difference of like 13 days.

Anyway to lighten the discussion here's something I found when loking at what wiki had on leningrad (nothing just stuff on the siege) and this (you will laugh or die from combustion of the laugh(like holding farts in*)).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leningrad_Cowboys

*please refer to South Park on this matter (it's a good episode really).

I don't want to get too deep into politics so fast so let's take things slow.

EHT Iranian president stated that he will reply to our request to not use or buy nuclear capabilities on the 22nd. The reason this is so important is that he has gone on to say before that he feels it is his obligation to rid the world of the Israelis and anyone else in opposition.

Of course this doesn't come without the date. August 22nd falls on the day in the Muslim calender when Mohammad or one of the prophets (Ican't remember which one) accended from Jerusalem into Heaven and back to Jerusalem. So this holiday essentially is like their X-mas, Thanksgiving and New Years all rolled into one.

The Iranian President is nothing more than a puppet. The person with true power in Iran is the Ayatollah.

To spark controversy, something does need to be done about Israel. As oppressive the Israelis are upon the Palestinians.

Oh I couldn't agree more.

But here me out...from what I gather, I deduct that when shit hits the fan (pardon my french there) It will become a world war, one that has been deemed apocalyptic by nature, and the worst part is that the U.S. will be on it's own side.

Well its own side, but not neccessarily by itself. If anything, the U.S. will be dragged into more war from one of three things. Either because consequences of Iraq fallout, trying to disarm Iran from nuclear capabilities, or because of its consistent pledging of support for Israel.

Which Israel acts like that little brother who always picks fights, because they have a bigger brother (U.S.) to back them up and finish the fighting.

But yeah, like I was saying. U.S. has a lot support from other powerful developed nations. Of course the obvious is Israel, Britain and Japan. With a bigger list of smaller developing nations, who want to get on the good side of U.S. to forgo U.S. embargo's or gain support from the U.S.

All these Apocalyptic theories do get on my nerves. There has been many of these, some in the 80's, the 90's, Y2K, June 6th of 2006 and hosts of other theories. If anything is to come for the end of mankind, I doubt it's going to be an eradication by people upon people. I think it will be a slow demise of something more grand than the human race. Something as simple as the failure of the planet's life. Complete wack of the ecosystem.
Like take the fact that in 20-30 years NYC will be under 2-10 feet of water. In 50-100 years, almost anything currently above sea level of 20-30 feet will be underwater. Which will displace multi-millions of people. Look at the severe drought that has happened in the mid-west this year. It wasn't that bad, but that is only the beginning of things to come. Last year's horrible hurricane season, but is kind of calm this year. Calm before the big storms? Who knows.

In any case, give me my MacBook, a new Honda and a few other things as well. As long as I have my family, my little bro, big bro, my mother and my girlfriend of 6 years, I'm good to go. Death does not scare me. If that time is near, then what am I to do about it?

Get U.S. and U.S. influence out of there it cause our embassy to be taken over (research it we did start it), we turned on Sudan after we allied with him for years then didn't do anything for years then say hey since Afganistan wasn't any good let's attack him and forget Afganistan. Hey also why do we feel a need to go and police anywhere we feel needs it? Iran should have gone to U.N. and told U.S. to get out of there? I don't think Iran is going to try and investigate us when we restart our nuclear program (plant going up 15 miles away from me really pulling for no meltdowns) or go to U.N and say it's a high priority matter. So to U.S democracy can't be spread when we oppress who we try to liberate and when you don't have it right yourselves. I have friends online that live in U.A.E. and Saudi Arabia and my friends in U.S. think it's wrong this is an effect of the U.S "War on Terrorism". Also, the U.S. can't stand peace (look in a history book). And, why is it that in U.S. it's considered novilty to learn another language? And, why is it believed that U.S. is the best place in the world to live, I would take many countries over U.S. like Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Greece, Austria, Switzerland, Japan, Italy, France, Iceland, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, South Korea, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Vatican City, Lavia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland,
you should see where I'm going with this by now.

Well some believe that the United States is the only "superpower" left in the world. That it should help in policing conflicts within the world to prevent other wars from starting. Yes as hypocritical as that is, that is what many believe. Especially (I know, here comes the flak) the Republicans believe we should keep our nose in anything that may pertain to us. Including if the price of coffee was to go up a dollar or two, but most particularly the resources we want to hog, e.g. oil.

But the main thing is, the U.S. doesn't want to stick its nose in conflicts that involve poor nations that have no benefit for us. Like the conflicts in Rwanda, Sudan, Somalia (even though we went there, we didn't fix the problem) and countless other African countries.

It is perceived this way because of past history of this Nation. Where many people have come to this country to better themselves. But really what is all the reasoning for it. Most people come here because the limit of your income is usually based on how hard you are willing to work. Not only by working hard but by doing anything necessary to get where you need to go. With no limits on income, except those you set upon yourself (with low education, etc.). There is only so much you can do in some of the countries you listed.
But not only is income one of the reasons for why people believe this is a great country. It is also the higher education available, higher standard of living and other factors involved.

I can partly see why you say regretfully USA. But are you really that regretful that you have a roof over your head, or you can go to McDonalds on a whim. You can disagree with most of the politics of this country, as do I. I just see no point in saying you regret this country as a whole. _______________________________________________________________________________
I don't think it's a novelty to learn another language. It is getting to the point where it is required. Spanish is almost required, but more importantly for business purposes, Chinese is also becoming a language that must be studied as well.

Not meaning to offend, but with that kind of statement, I'd happily buy a one-way ticket for you to the destination of your choice.
Just one of the unique freedoms you enjoy here, the right to speak out, and more importantly, to leave.

I generally avoid political discussions, but when someone bashes the country I've fought and bled for, I have no problem wading in.

I have one disagreement here. The education in Vienna is the best in the world. I learned this from a seasoned doctor of my college that keeps involved in Int'l travel, and stays up-to-date with the edcation system across the pond.

Read my post again, I never said it was the best, but that people come here from around the world for the higher education.

Oh, ok...sorry, my bad.

By higher education, do you mean college or just school systems as a whole? B/c in my opinion the college system here is where its at for education.
