Card reader recommendations?

Two questions really

- does the iMac USB port deliver enough current to spin up an IBM Microdrive? I have one that whirrs a little but never shows up in Finder - any suggestions? Does OS X recognise these drives?

- I have an integrated card reader in both my Shuttle PCs but what can I buy for the iMac that looks good? There doesn't appear to be much around. I have a perfectly functional Lexar card reader but it's a portable so I'd like to find a desktop/shelf model.

Sorry...missed this one...

I have the old LaCie 8-in-1 Card Reader (USB 2.0), an original 340MB IBM MicroDrive, and a Core Duo mini. It mounts just fine. I can shoot pics with my Nikon D1 and insert the MicroDrive and voila..it's right there on the desktop. It works directly into the mini or into one of the USB ports on my Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and FireWire 6-Port Hub for Mac mini.

Not sure about matching readers for the iMac...I will look around for you.

I also have the 340Mb microdrive - I haven't used it for a couple of years and it was fine before that (it's been on the shelf in its case) - so I'm wondering where the problem might lie? I'll look for the LaCie. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks but that looks like a portable? I have a Lexar like that but wanted something that would sit on a desk or shelf something like the upright Belkin hubs or similar that would complement my iMac Wink
