Rechargeable batteries would have been nice, but at least it looks like they are going with a laser tracking over optical tracking.

| I'll keep on using my good old wired non-optical Logitech M-BA47 thank you. Can't stand optical mouses... can't use them because of the way I always re-center my cursor. |

I really like the mighty mouse (not the side buttons. Why Apple can't just accept another standard that works really well and get on with the business of selling computers I don' know), but I hope it's better than other otical mice. I've got a BT Mac mice and tried the Apple wireless optical and frankly, they both suck a lot of battery and don't respond nearly as well as their PC equivalents do.
Frankly Apple mic have always been their weakest feature. Then again Apple has never been willing to change just because a better idea comes along. |

That's exactly what I have.. love it! I think probably the only area Apple keeps failing in are mice. The only thing the mighty mouse did for me was make me mighty nautious.. |

Bandit, I agree. The two Microsoft products I still use today are their mouse and keyboard. Both excellent.

Isn't it nice of Apple to not include the estimated battery life on one or two AA batteries?
$70 for a "SUV like" power consumption of AA batteries.
more like $70 + almost ∞ $ for batteries over the mouse's lifetime.
Still glad they have a multi-button mouse, but still... could use improvement.

I get 24 (a box of 6 four-packs) of Energizer Industrial AA batteries for less than $10. A pair lasts me about 6 weeks in the mouse, so 18 of these should last me a year, with 12 left over for the keyboard. That's probably about right.
For $10/year (or even twice that), I can't see messing with rechargables.

I don't like the scrollball but it is the easiest to use when navigating sideways on wide pages. Tried a tlit wheel and it kept centre clicking every time.
The side buttons are simply POINTLESS. Why have two that can only be harnessed to a single function? My Logitech MX700 knocks spots of any Apple mouse. If the MM buttons were usable for forward/back browsing it would be so much better.
I've just acquired a cheap BT mouse and overall it's OK but when you first move it nothing happens and then it suddenly rushes across the screen to catch up. Reducing the speed and acceleration don't seem to do much to alleviate the turbocharged speed it develops when the pointer finally seems to move. I certainly wouldn't waste money on an Apple BT MM.
It also tends to lose the connection a lot even though it's a foot away from the iMac though that may be a battery thing.
If you want wireless don't waste your money buy a Logitech - I'll get the S530 combo eventually.

Another example of the incredible price divide US/UK - those batteries would cost approx. $33. I agree changing rechargeables is a pain that why I like the Logitech charging dock.

I'm left handed, so you can probably guess how I feel about all those 'ergonomic' mice!
Seriously, it's annoying because most of the mice people recomend are these shaped ones and I simply can't use them! 
Which is why I'm giving some serious thought to the MM, Can anyone give me an idea of battery life on the original apple bt mouse, just for comparison's sake?
