I have noticed that it is almost time for the World Wide Developers Conference and I was wondering if Steve Jobs will make any annoucments? Specifically hardware upgrades to the Mini.

I want to spend more and keep the formfactor. My wish list:

7200 rpm drive 80GB (yea I would take an even bigger one)
8x SuperDrive (double-layer)
Firewire 800

Dare I ask for it:
ATI Radeon 9600 64 or 128MB DDR video memory

Come on Steve. The system has such potential...lets make it a full powered Mac that can take full advantage of Tiger.

I think the focus is going to be on Tiger, iPod and iTunes. My guess is there will be a new video iPod and iTunes subscription service. I think he'll update everyone on Mac mini sales. He may mention other ways the mini has been used that Apple did not imagine, like in home theaters, cars, and kiosks. As for Mac mini upgrades...video is the top priority! Let's keep our fingers crossed on the other ones you mentioned.

At WWDC you're more likely to get announcements that will make all the developers there happy, it's not really a consumer event at all.

So while a mini announcement is possible, it's not exactly probable. More likely xServes or something like that, if anything.

I think something will happen at Macworld Expo Boston in July! Apple will be in Boston right?

Exactly - MacWorld is a much better bet. Though there's still a few lines due for upgrades ahead of the mini. iBooks for one...

Uhm.... I want all of that...and I'd be willing to pay $899 for it (with 1GB memory) but it ain't happening at WWDC.

I'm holding off on purchasing my mini until Xmas 2005 specifically because I want all the things you listed (including the 9600 video card).

By Xmas that 9600 video card will probably be the lowest end card ATI still has in production... or it "should" be.
