As many of you may know, M$ has had to buy tonnes of Power Macs to develop and run software for its next gen console the XBox 360. What they've done is write a PowerPC version of Windows NT so that they have a chance of making their Windoze Media Centre comptable with the thing.

But here's the thing -- it will use a PowerPC derivative chip running at 3.2 GHz (yes, the PMac only just updated to 2.7 GHz) and have an ethernet cable. The hard drive will be detachable and susceptable to being replaced by a faster, partitioned HDD.

Is anyone else thinking "Bonjour, Mr 360, would you like to serve as part of my multiprocessor stack"? Exclamation

I don' t know if you can pull it off but that would be powerful. How about a row of 360's all contolled by the mini. Funny how IBM now has all these chips!

Is the 360 going to run NT?

by replacing the original hard drive with one that's been partitioned in two you should be able to make contact with & use the part that has had OSX installed.

Otherwise, what would be the point of hacking into a 3.2 GHz G5 that you can't use for your own plans? Okay, maybe messing with it so that you can hack into the Windows Media Centre aspects and gain that functionality on your Mac Mini.

Hmmm, you know, both the 360 and the Playstation 3 will be using the same wireless protocal that Airport does. This bears further thought. Idea

Interesting concept! I like the PS3 better than the Xbox 360. The PS3 may work with the iPod and iTunes out of the gate, so anythings possible!
