I think a small G5 styled case for the mini would be awesome. Now I just have to wait for someone with the skills and resources to market one.
I'd be the first in line for one. If the price is right.

Do you mean like a tower with extra bays?

Not a big tower, just a little scaled down G5 looking container for the mini's hardware. I'm dreaming of a little anodized dude that mimics the great looks of the G5.

i read this thread and HAD to photoshop it.

so you want to have a case that looks like that that you can just slip the mac mini into? probably from the backof the case and lock it down with some clips?

sounds possible... and awesome.

hmm

maybe a 1.5GHz model with ANOTHER stock 256 ram, an 80GB 5400rpm hard drive, a combo drive, and 64 MB video memory costing $900

and a 1.7GHz model with 256MB, a 120 GB 5400rpm hard drive, superdrive, and 128 MB video memory costing $1200

fair?

Smile

dear lord, i'd never do that to a mini.

you have no idea how annoying those apple mini towers are in data centers. they're impossible to stack. the next idiot who brings one in to try to rack it is going to get a swift treatment with tin snips that will make it stackable.

Cool concept, what if they just use the box inside the case. Or did you mean for that to be some sort of dock?

Bani, if your hand grip strength allows you to cut the aluminum of a G5, I never, ever want to shake your hand! That is some seriously potent aluminum they use.

I have gut standard stamped steel PC cases and motherboard trays with super sharp industrial tin snips (the kind a Mafioso could take digits off with). I'd never be able to get one of those handles even partway off (oh, the sacrilege of even the thought!).

XServes are the data center Macs. Perhaps you've heard of them? ;-D

I'd still take eMacs over PC's even though your colo would have to be the size of a jet hangar.
