Return of the Mac mini Portable
Sunday, April 16, 2006
Back in February, we reported about Peter Green's Mac mini portable project. Well, it looks like Peter has continued to make improvements and refinements to his design. The new Mac mini portable (MMP MkII) is built into a smaller enclosure and includes a flush-mounted trackpad, flush-mounted keyboard, USB Hub, and 8" TFT screen. Running off a 14.8 volt Li-on battery, the MMP MkII gets over three hours of battery life. Other new features include a front-mounted power button and dual-head display. You can see a video of the MMP MkII in action here.

He has a dual-head display setup from a Mac mini?
Oh, I see... a dual-head mirror display setup... His 8" LCD is probably connected using S-Video.
Still, his MMP Mark 2 sure looks nice. I wish my own Mini-ITX laptop turned out half as great as this. |

I'll give this guy credit for his modding skills, but I'm looking forward to seeing the new 13.3" iBooks. |

According to Engadget, he spent less than $700 making the original Mac Mini, getting most of the gadgets off of ebay.
I can't wait for the new Intel-based 13-inch iBooks, either, though. |

Yeah props on the geek factor but this got to be the most useless compuers of all time.
The keyboard is a joke, that ruins the whole thing.
Just use a 12" ibook for god's sake. |

What is the point? Its neat for a school project but I don't see how it would be useful at all. _________________ Preparing For:
