Help with Mini Problem

I would like to be able to run second life on my mini which I purchased in 2005.

Unfortunately when I launch the Second life program, the sign-in screen comes up and then the entire computer screen begins to slowly flash from blue to the sttart-up screen and back again until the screen just remains solid blue..

Now the same thing is happening when I open my web browser although not to the same degree.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I might fix this problem?
