This is absolute genius and will push many to buy the Intel Macs -- myself included. I would love to ditch my PC and this looks to be the way to do just that. Steve does it again

Finally Apple has realised the marketing potential of dual boot systems. If there is Vista support I thinkI will be trading in my pc and mini for a 20" imac

I just did the bootcamp + windows install, and so far, there are some problems. Well, after installing the Windows drivers provided by apple, the system reboots upon start up.
This appears to be a video driver issue, as if I start in VGA mode, everything seems to work OK.
Also, I can't get to the OS chooser menu, as my wireless keyboard doesn't have an option key. Actually, I think it's more of a case of the keyboard not being detected early enough.

That is what I want to know. I'd hare for my WIn 2K Pro CD to just father dust. If it is possible I am running to the Apple store to buy an Intel iMac. I love my G4 mini but that Quicken program that came bundled with it just does not stack up to M$ Money.
Anybody want to co-op a Win 2K Pro Boot Camp test?

According to this article in eWeek, it can't boot anything prior to xp. Too bad if they're right.

Everything went fine on a iMac 17" Intel here. Installed the updates and followed the instructions and walla. First thing I had to do was grab some games lol. So first thing I install ?? HALF LIFE 2. One of the most requested games for mac. The results were amazing. Everything ran super great with no glitches in the audio or video. Even with several ppl on the screen and flying helicopters and explosions. So the whole mac cant play games blah blah is finally in the garbage. Run Osx, Windows and more. Not to mention if windows goes down you can always reboot to osx lol. Try that on a windows box.

Hmmm. The whole "windows on intel mac" never really interested me much. I'm content with my ppc mini. But I have to admit, that sounds awfully nice. Maybe I'll be upgrading sooner than I thought |

The world is full of Windoze-only apps -- is Boot Camp going to be another?
I have absolutely no intention of ever polluting my mini with Windoze but what about other OSes? I'd like to play around with Zeta (nee Be/OS) and a couple of others.
Those OSes can be installed on just about any Windoze machine -- maybe someday also on the Mac using Boot Camp?

Yes, I did the firmware update. I don't think XP would even install without it. I'm actually writing this from XP, but I had to disable the video drivers. Everything else works.

Hate to say it... but why would you go to Windows 2000 Pro. XP is far superior to 2k. I perform desktop support for close to 300 pc's and servers, and last year we finally phased out all our 2k boxes and have everything on XP. Only 2k Pro stuff we have is 2k Pro Server, and those will be gone in a month.
