Belkin Unveils the Flip

Looking for a KVM? Belkin's new Flip lets you share one monitor, keyboard, and mouse between two computers, allowing business professionals to now bring home their work laptop and easily plug it into their home setup. By simply pressing a small, stylish remote, you can easily switch from one computer to the next. The remote stays on your desk while the base and cables remain hidden for a cleaner desktop.
Flip also offers the added feature of letting you share one set of speakers between computers. Flip fully supports any combination of PC and Mac desktop and notebook computers for use in any home or work environment. Flip will begin shipping in early April, with a suggested retail price of $59.99.

| It looks nice. However, it should use DVI connections and not VGA. I'm not interested in anything VGA anymore. |

Agreed. I'm no more interested in VGA than ADC or PS/2.
However, this product doesn't seem to be targeted at Mac mini users in particular. And the idea of only having the switch button on the desk (and the cables hidden away) is very nice. |

The switch button seems like a good idea. But what's up with the colors?

| In total agreement about the VGA! This is a BRAND NEW product . . . would anyone buying a new system or monitor NOT be getting something that handles DVI? I don't think I understand the concept here, and certainly have no need for one. |

The fact is, it's actually still quite rare to see any DVI computers and LCDs (or those that have DVI also have VGA). And those DVI ports often are DVI-A instead of DVI-D...
I guess it's like audiophiles who wonder why people listen to MP3's instead of SA-CDs... |

They should still release the concept "Flip" that was modelled after the Mac Mini as an option.
Edit: Saw on another forum that they do sell it. Since it's VGA I guess I never really bother to look into either. |

Companies like Belkin and Iogear are still in a VGA mindset. It will probably take them another year or two before they totally jump on the DVI bandwagon with all their consumer level KVMs.

LOL- I still have a VGA connection on my XP.
I'm amazed at how much better DVI is compared to VGA. Thankfully, I rarely have to use XP.  |
