I need something within 4 weeks and am very tempted to go ahead and get the G4 ibook 12inch. Would you wait for the intel ibooks or just say "bah the G4 is plenty for what I plan to do". My main rig is a mini+firewire disk+cinema display which is what I do my main work on, but I need something I can take along if I'm on the road and the little G4 ibook seems like the most logical choice.. It's small and can be a miniature version of my home system while I'm away, etc.. I'm close, got my finger on the purchase button! yikes!

Ahh... you typed powerbook in the content.

But an iBook is just as good. Especially if what you ahve now is satisfying, this should be too!

Well I gave up a PowerBook for an iBook if that helps your decision. I decided on the 14.1" iBook from a 12" PowerBook simply because I needed something with a bigger screen, slightly better battery life and able to withstand me! The plastic casing is much more desireable than the aluminum of the PowerBook and in my opinion it feels cooler!

ah hell I went ahead and took the plunge, I figure I'll get a couple solid years out of it then upgrade. It meets my requirements and I hate falling into the never ending cycle of "just wait 3 more months till the new model come out".

Now, is there a clever way to keep my ibook and mini user accounts in sync? Not a huge deal but if there is some applemagic app that does it that would be cool..

I'll probably get the iBook G4 1.33GHz 12-inch instead of a Mac Mini because I want something portable small and reliable I only have $400, but I can get the money quickly the only upgrade I'll get is the 80GB HDD and ACPP.
