Hello,

Has anyone ever seen an adaptor that allows you to use both the optical output and analogue audio output at the same time? I'd like to use the analogue O/P for local PC speakers and still be able to use the optical O/P to feed my Denon receiver?

1 day till Mini Duo arrives Smile

Cheers,

Tim.

I don't think you should have an issue with the standard set-up. No adapter would be needed. There are 2 separate output ports. One is analog out. The other is digital in/out.

I don't have an Intel mini, but I would imagine in the sound output options you should be able to have one or the other or both. Because your speakers have a built in amp and the Denon is an amp. You could turn the amp on/off in each when wanted/not wanted.

Hopefully someone can verify this, as I am looking at getting an Intel model primarily because I want to do the same thing.

No the problem is that the 3.5mm stereo jack also has a optical output built into the socket.

It works like a conventional analogue jack socket but if you put in a suitable optical cable with a dummy 3.5mm jack with a fibre optic light guide down the centre of the jack then you can use it for digital audio. The problem is (being an awkward bugger) I want to use both at the same time.

Cheers,

Tim.

I got you. I thought the line in was digital in/out.

Thanks for saving me money. I likely won't be buying one.

You could use this to connect the computer speakers. It is USB.
