External Drives and Itunes

Hey Everyone,

I'm a long time lurker finally with a question of my own. I have an 80 GB Mac Mini and a 160 GB Lacie d2 external drive. My external drive has over 100 GB of music on it.

I am wondering how I can play this music on Itunes without copying it to the mini. Itunes help says I can do it. Just wondering how this is possible.

I would eventually like to purchase a Lacie companion 250 to use along with my mini if this works out.

Change your Library to the folder on the external disk. Then, import.

How do you find your Lacie d2? I quite like the look of them but read mixed reviews. It's fanless, right? Do you use it as your boot drive?

I also have the Lacie d2 250 GB HD. I like it, but I basically use it just to back up with. It is not too noisey, but you do know when it is on and spinning. Not sure about a fan, but you do hear the drive. Since it is FW I was curious as to weather it was faster to boot or run from, so I tried it. For how I use it, I didn't notice any difference in boot speed or in practical useage from the 4200 RPM int.
