ye the dock does seem like a half baked plan. just leads to added complexity in product from a company thats design ethos is based around simplicity.

I vote no dock... Instead, give the iPod some wireless connectivity (bluetooth?)...

I would love that, but I'd prefer it to be 802.11g over bluetooth. Aren't you sick of cables?

A Mac Mini with an iPod dock would have been a neat idea, but I agree, it would probably be ugly, even given Apple's design talent.
But then again, these were all rumors, so who knows what the truth is. |

Wow... Guess I'm in the minority here. I thought the built-in dock was a neat idea.

Allthough it is a neat idea, I just wouldn't like the look of it. And, what about all the people that want a mini, but not an iPod? I'm sure the dock would look less appealling if it was empty all the time.

| No dock. Just give me Front Row with the Apple remote and a dual core Intel chip. I agree with the other guy that said make the iPod wireless. Apple should have done that like a year ago. |

I vote for an extra USB and FW port *on the side*, like on the new miniStack.
Speaking of stacking, if the dock connector was on top of the mini that would limit stacking options. |

Side port has the advantage of being reachable easily from the front or the back without having cables snaking all the way around, whether you're a "cables in front" or "keep the desk clean" type.  |

I think a front port would be more practical for temporary connections. Especially if Apple markets the new mini as some sort of media device, and it ends up sitting in more and more entertainment centers. It also makes more sense from a space saving point of view. With side ports you need more clearance on each side of the computer. The front of most setups are usually open with nothing sitting in front of the mini. If the mini was in my TV stand, I would definitely want the port up front. Otherwise, I would need to pull it out of the stand to get access to those side ports.
