Smile

I cant wait to receive it...Applecentre estimates its arrival in 2 weeks time,I orderd the 1.42Ghz with 512Mb RAM.This will be my 1st mac, I am very excited at the prospect of no spyware etc, as this is the bane of my existence at the moment,I am the guinea pig for my office, if all goes well, the company will be converting to them as workstations.
Just a quick question - what is the learning curve like for those brought up on wintel? As tough as Linux?

Ciao for now

Simon

It won't take long perhaps a few days. I still continue to learn new things everyday! Linux really isn't that bad and KDE, Gnome are relatively user friendly. What scares a lot of people with Linux is installation and installing software.

" I am very excited at the prospect of no spyware etc"

Tell me about it! Windows is out of control and Microsoft can't keep up.

I have a Mini at home & I've gotten used to it's silence. The Dell PC I use at work sounds like an air conditioner. No chance of switching here, though. Crying or Very sad

Once you get use to things being quiet it's amazing how loud another machine can sound. Heck my laptop make more noise than my mini.

Mac arrived yesterday.I must say its a great machine, good getting back to learning keyboard shortcuts, instead of just clicking on things.Havent got used to the keyboard though, i am doubling up on charachters all the time!(nothing to do with the key repeat speed,i have slowed this down).more along the lines of the "feel" of the keys, if that makes sense.
