I've just bought a 2010 Mac Mini that was advertised as "Spares or Repair", but said to be working, just needing a new fan, memory and hard drive. When it arrived, there was obvious damage to the logic board, which of course the seller on Facebook denied all knowledge of, saying it was working, and sold as described. Not my my definition of repair really requiring some delicate work to fix a ripped off optical drive connector!

Any ideas on how to repair the optical connector and source a connector for the fan?

The connector looks like it might be reusable. Beyond my soldering abilities but here are laptop logic board repair places that should be able to do a quick repair.

Before fixing that make sure the rest of it works. If it has updated firmware it can load MacOS from the Internet. If not use a USB stick or drive.

I've been trying to find a video all day of someone replacing a similar socket. Guess until I get hold of a decent microscope to see what's there, seeing if the base system will work is the way to go until then. Of course I will need to add a fan connector too, and did find a video for that, but not simple!
