After almost a four month odyssey I finally got my Mac Mini. In fact with the help of my new Moshi keyboard and MX Revolution mouse, I am creating this post.

Too bad it's Tiger...I was looking forward to Leopard. Oh well, onward and upward.

One question, should I install all of the software upgrades? Or should I wait to see if I like Tiger....or just wait until I get Leopard?

Thanks to everybody for their advice.

Congratulations on the acquisition of your mini! I'm in my first 2 months of ownership myself. As far as Software Updates go, I would install all of them. Aside from the posted fixes/upgrades, there can sometimes be unannounced enhancements to application and hardware compatibility hidden away in an update.

My guess is you'll like Tiger just fine. And at risk of being crucified I will say that even though I like Leopard immensely, the "300+ new features" are, for the most part, ones you could live without. I'm all for functional glitz and glamour, but I would swear that Tiger (granted in its 11th major update) is faster at day to day tasks... wait, I just remembered Time Machine... ok, yeah, get Leopard Wink

Congrats! Did you buy new? If so, it should've been accompanied with a Leopard Upgrade disk. Anyhow, the above post is very true, Tiger is a very solid OS and there's no dramatic 'need' to upgrade ... though, we are still using Tiger at work (stability, compatibility, old macs, etc.) and everyday I drag myself in here I very much miss the use of Stacks, Spaces, and Quick Look that I have grown to love on my home workstations running Leopard. Thankfully, I get to write up a plan for upgrading our entire facility in the coming month to all intel based macs running 10.5.

I'm still running Tiger on my iMac even though I have a copy of Leopard still in its shrink wrap at the side of the desk.

My MacbookPro looks like its finally arriving to today (currently out for delivery) so I will be forced to use Leopard on that and will probably then install Leopard on the iMac just so they are both the same.

Tiger is superb though and reading posts here, it seems to possibly be more stable than Leopard.

Excited about the new mac Cypher? I would have to agree that tiger is more stable and I like the new features but could live without them.[/quote]

No it was refurbished. It came with OS X 10.4.10. I just upgraded it to 10.4.11.

another reason why I wanted Leopard was Boot Camp, as there are some programs I won't port over to the Mac and need to still run in a Windows environment.

I think I will play around with Tiger for now, get used to the OS before jumping in with Leopard. I'll use the money for Leopard for a new FW drive...

I assume there is a Missing Manual for Tiger...

I certainly am, I wasn't expecting it till either Friday or Monday and I've been dying to leave work early all day ever since I saw on the tracking that it was out for delivery.

I did come home early tonight, and I'm using it now Very Happy
