I have both the Apple wireless mouse and also the wireless keyboard.

What I began to notice is the uselessness of the mouse in everyday affair, having been accustumed to using the 3 botton/scroll bar Windows mouse that is wired. Since then, the Apple mouse has been gathering dust.

Worse than that, is the bluetooth enabled keyboard that keeps on losing signal and having to go through extensive reprogramming each and everytime it loses signal.

The worst, is that the "S" bottom need to be clicked really hard in order to get the SSSS placed in text.
What is up with this sort of non sense, from devices that are almost idiot and time proof?

PS: A hard wired Apple keyboard that a student of mine uses has a messed up USB port. The funny thing is that she has not used it before it stopped recognizing devices.

Call me stupid, but in WinTel world, this sort of non sense never, ever happens.

Bluetooth is just as batty on the WinTel side. You just never hear about it because people are preoccupied with viruses and spyware. Wink

My Apple wired keyboard is two years old and rock solid. Are both of the keyboards new? Maybe Apple switched manufactures and they're using cheaper parts. I hope that's not the case.

This is a joke right? Are you really saying that hardware never malfunctions on Windows boxes?

My definition of hardware:

Exclusively input devices such as mouses and keyboards.

I have NEVER have had any problems with both elements, eventhough they could have been a good 6-7 years, dusty, beat up, with mice eaten cables.

It is unforgivable that input devices, as they are most heavily used can fail with subtly but irritable ways. Twisted Evil

That kind of stuff happens all the time in the wintel world. My wife bought a Logitech cordless mouse/keyboard combo for use with her PC at work. The mouse stopped working within 3 months. I've been using Macs for 12 years & have only had one keyboard failure, it was on a 3 year old imac. Never had a mouse problem. I use the bluetooth mouse/keyboard on my mini with zero problems. Perhaps you have a bad keyboard or something, and if so, you should contact apple. If it's within warranty, they will fix it. To claim that because you & one person you know have had trouble with their apple keyboards is simply too small of a group to glean enough info to make a statement like "Apple makes bad hardware"

As far as the mouse goes, that's just a preference. If you're into 3 button mice, then use them. It's nice that the mini doesn't come with a mouse included so that each of us can make that decision for ourselves. I know plenty of mac users who want more buttons, but I myself, enjoy the 1 button mouse for it's simplicity.

Well surely you realize that just because YOU haven't had any problems doesn't mean that they don't exist. By the same token, just because YOU have had problems with Apple hardware doesn't also translate to "Apple makes cr@ppy hardware." If someone else said "I have had nothing but horrible experiences with PC keyboards and mice but I've never had any problem with Apple's hardware. PC input devices suck," their statements would hold just as much water as yours...

When I first got my Mac Mini I was sharing the same Keyboard, Mouse and LCD display among 3 Winders computers and the Mini. I was using one USB to PS2 adapter to connect the Dell keyboard to the KVM switch, then a combo PS2 keyboard/PS2 mouse to USB adapter to connect to the Mac Mini.

The Mac Mini would have problems sometimes with the keyboard, seeming to forget what keyboard was connected and requiring the press key next to shift button procedure to recover.

Finally I bought an Apple USB keyboard and all of my keyboard problems went away.

Perhaps not all Apple input devices are heaving heaps of crap.

EDITED for typo
