According to Apple support a 2014 MM is required to drive a 4K TV.

What I cannot find is whether my Mid 2011 MM would be enough to power a 4K HDR TV EVEN tho' it would never be used for 4K?
Perfectly unclear I'm sure. -_Q

Here's the dilema. The Panasonic TC-L50B6 just died.

I'm looking at a Sony 55" 4K UHD HDR KD-55X720E

I simply cannot afford both a new TV & a 2014 MM.

I'm thinking that if the mid 2011 MM is enough to power the SONY via over-scanning etc. I can deal with that until I'm a bit more flu$h at which time I'll upgrade the MM.

Am I just whistlin? -_Q

Thanks for what comes back.
