Hello there everyone:

So a fellow youtuber I followed on youtube sent me 2 iMac g4 lamp style machines for classic Mac gaming they work they are running however the information I gave him resulted in not helping one person restoring a Mac se 30 it helped 2 people the 1st person sent me the 2 iMacs I love both of these machines and they work excellent for my classic gaming.

However the 2nd person is sending me a i have no clue what to do with it machine he is sending me a 8 core xeon xserve

is there any advice on what the heck I should with this thing I was planing on just buying a board and transplanting the processors off of the thing and scraping it considering the only thing its good for is running Mac OS X snow leopard.

is there anything else I could do with this 30 pound hunk of steal.

Wait. SE/30? Xeon XServe?

What does anything have to do with the XServe?

Itís a server, so you would use it as a server.

correct but I was wondering what to use it for server wise because it is stuck on Mac OS X snow leopard server and cannot install lion server so I was trying to figure out maybe a way to use it as a file server for storage for the house

Xserve1,1 and Xserve2,1 can both run Lion server with no issues. Other more modern server OS's can rub up to El Capitan with upgrades. Xserve3,1 can run El Capitan, they can also run Sierra with a third party software patch.
