I've seen a few threads floating around where people have taken 2011/2012 innards and put them in a 2010 model to accompany the slot for an optical drive. I understand the inherent difficulties and cost, etc. My question is: will the 2.6Ghz Quad core i7 logic board fit into a 2010 shell WITH an optical drive? As i said, I've seen people who have done it with other boards, but not the 2.6. The 2.6 appears to have much larger heat sinks that could potentially interfere with the space needed to fit the optical drive in along with it. Barring price and rationale, is it POSSIBLE? Fools errand? For me, this is as much about the project as it is the final product.

Hello!

I think the reason no one has done it, is because not many people have the i7 models to try it with.

I think you would have to open it up and see how it compares to the i5 models. Otherwise, Iím sure the i7 still has two drive bays, but itís the other stuff, as you mentioned, that gets in the way.
