I can't buy or upgrade software to run on my 10.6.8 OS.

I held off upgrading to Mavericks now I want to know if I can upgrade to Yosemite.

I searched the threads but didn't find any details.

If I do upgrade, will my existing software work?
2008 Office for Mac, Quicken Essentials? Software from before 2010 maybe even before 2005? All works great on 10.6.8.

Thank you.

P>S> not too excited if I can only upgrade to Lion!

Your 2009 mini will run Yosemite just fine. My husband and stepdaughter are both running Yosemite on late 2009 minis.

Office '11 and '08 will work. Have no idea about Quicken or anything else you might have; macintouch.com usually has a compatibility list somewhere on the site.

Seconding Leanne's post; Yosemite and Office run fine on a 2009 mini; at least one with 8 gb RAM. (Not saying it needs 8 gb, but that's what mine has.)

I recently installed an SSD in my 2009 mini; makes quite an improvement in bootup and startup speed of apps.

The problem he has is he is running 10.6 which means he has to get a copy of mountain lion or lion to run the installer for maverick and for yosemite the upgrade goes smoother upgrading from maverick.
