I recently installed an OWC data doubler in my Mac Mini 5.1.

Within a month or so, the Mini started overheating. I haven't been able to find any info online about where the heat sensor is or what I should look for as a possible physical problem.

Also, in the process of installing the data doubler I accidentally pulled off the IR sensor coupler attachment. I took it to my local "Mac guy," who soldered it back into place. Could this be related to the overheating problem?

Thanks to all for any suggestions

Define overheating. If it isn't shutting down it isn't overheating.

Do you have any fan or temperature monitoring software such as smcFanControl? Knowing if the fan is ramping up (can you hear it?) or what the temperature is would be good info. The IR sensor shouldn't be an issue and I don't think that model had the heat sensor issue that the 2010 model had.
