I have a Mac mini Early 2009, 2Ghz Core 2 Duo with 4GB ram 320GB WD hard drive. I run XP in bootcamp for accounting/tax prep applications, nothing too processor intensive. I want to try Win 8.1 but I'm not certain my Mac mini will play well with it. The MS site indicates that my Mac mini just makes it into the window of 8.1 supported devices.

Should I try and install 8.1 or wait until I replace the Mac mini with another machine more up to date? Thanks.

Nope you cannot!!!

you need a I5 I7 with SEE3 or SEE4

microsoft changed the system requirements to windows 8 when they went from 8 to 8.1 also another nasty thing to note windows 8 likes to deactivate if you upgrade your ram at any time or change your graphics card and sorry to say as well there is only one time product activation which means that you cant call microsoft to have it activated if you need to reinstall it

go to windows 7 skip 8 wait for 9

you can get copy's from amazon really cheap

stay away from used copy's and most of all stay away from Bussiness edition and windows 7 professional OEM Versions they die in october
where ultimate home basic and professional non oem versions don't

and remember enjoy
