I tried them and cnn worked but Fox asked me to update my flash.

I check into netflix more and it says I have to download silverlight. When I looked at the silverlight site it says 10.4.11 is on the list but it says minimum requirements are Core Due 1.83 gig or higher. Mine is 1.66. Does this really matter? Will it work but not as good or not at all? I just want to know before I sign up and start downloading stuff.

Thanks in advance

I doubt it matters, but you're going to have to take one for the team to find out.

I used Netflix with 10.5.8. About a year ago at the beginning of a movie I got a pop-up that requested me to update Silverlight. I did it and Netflix stopped working. Apparently Silverlight was not compatible with my version of OS X anymore. I don't care if they say it is compatible with the older versions. The update killed Netflix.

I got on the phone with their tech support people, who are always very nice and helpful, and worked with this for a while. All they could suggest was to update the browser and delete the update and try installing the update again. They aren't all experts in technical matters. I am not either. Somehow the idea to remove the messed up files and replace them with the older versions in Carbon Copy Cloner came to me.

I was lucky because I had just begun to use Carbon Copy Cloner. I deleted the current updated version of Netflix from my computer and went into the Cloned files and rebuilt the Netflix file system in my computer. I started Netflix again and it went back to working. After that I refuse all Silverlight updates.

Maybe a fresh installation from Netflix will work. Whatever update I was given didn't work well with whatever was there before. Maybe if you get the service and it doesn't work on your machine you can get a refund. They usually are understanding. I've gotten refunded for bad DVDs when I used that part of their service. Sometimes the telephone person would throw in an extra DVD for my trouble.

Doesn't Netflix regularly have a free trial for one month? See if that is available and give it a try.
