The 2 clones have been down and tested for being bootable - both fine Smile
Both TMs done as well Smile
Now (simply) copying data from the ext data HDD (with music and photos) to the 3rd partitions, as a sort of backup.

PS: Thanks for the 500/465GB explanation! (had googled it in the meantime)

When I swap the two ext HDDs the Sharing 1 Permissions (under Get Info) is different from how I set it when linked to the original mini - how come?
How should (re)set the permissions to allow them to be fully swapped if need be:
admin mini A: R&W
admin mini B: R&W
everyone: no access
?

I've never set sharing permissions, so I don't have experience in them being. Changed when swapped..

Seeing you are only going to swap the drives every once in a while to clone and the drives would then go back to the original computer, perhaps it is something you can live with.

If you want to explore it in more detail, perhaps you can start another thread with that issue, so it gets more attention.

I don't set sharing permissions often, but thought I maybe should in this case to avoid any risks when swapping disks, like you say only every once in a while.
Once I've got myself a 3rd backup/clone disk (to store off-site) I won't swap them anymore anyway.

Changing the permissions was NOT a good idea: TM sees them as 'changes' so the next incremental backup is as big (and long) as the initial one...
Oh well, I'll start from scratch.
