Apple Releases OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 Update

Apple today released the OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 Update via their Mac App Store and website for direct download. According to the company,this update is recommended for all OS X Mountain Lion users and includes features and fixes that improve the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac, including:

- Fixes an issue that may prevent Mail from displaying messages.
- Improves AFP file transfer performance over 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
- Resolves an issue that may prevent a screen saver from starting automatically.
- Improves Xsan reliability.
- Improves reliability when transferring large files over Ethernet.
- Improves performance when authenticating to an Open Directory server.
- Addresses an issue that prevented a smart card from unlocking preference panes in System Preferences.
- Contains the improvements included in MacBook Air (Mid 2013) Software Update 1.0.

The OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 Update weighs in at 272.72 MB and requires OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.4. Apple also released a Combo update for users looking to update from earlier versions of Mountain Lion.

As usual the latest 10.8.5 broke my mail plugins.
MailPluginFix to the rescue again.

Mail has always been a little buggy for me in Mountain Lion. I'm glad there appears to be at least one fix in this update.

There's nothing that exciting about this one. Hopefully it will be the last one before Mavericks.

Not going to bother for now. My Macs are running very well with 10.8.4.
