Apple has lowered the priced of the refurbished Apple TV to $75. This price represents a $10 discount off the previous price of $85. The price of a new Apple TV still remains $99 though. It should also be noted that all refurbished Apple TVs come with a one-year warranty. They can be ordered through Apple's online store or picked up in select stores.

It might be smart for Apple to cut the overall price if the Chromecast continues to gain popularity.

I sort of agree with Ben. I was into Best Buy on Tuesday and one of the sales people in the TV section said the Chromecast was one of their most requested products. So I'm thinking Apple needs to be careful here. They have built up some nice momentum (own a 1G and 3G myself) with the Apple TV, but it could become a hard sell in comparison. Especially when the Chromecast ends up getting more apps/channels and support. And you just know they are coming.

I think Apple will continue to do well with the Apple TV. Regardless of its price in comparison to the Chromecast. The feature set may need to improve though. Like with more channels and apps. The latter being the killer feature everyone is dreaming about.
