The words Adobe and Free usually don't go together. But for those with the proper system requirements for Mac or PC you might find something useful.
CS2 System Requirements
*Mac OS X v.10.2.8–v.10.3.8. PowerPC® G4 or G5 processor
*Windows® 2000/Windows XP. Intel® Pentium® III or 4 processor

Yep I figured it was a scam when I first heard it too, Adobe never gives anything away. But when I checked the links they were legit. Admittedly its dated software and sadly nothing for OSX but I know a number of G4/G5 users. _________________ iMac 24" 2.4 GHz 4GB | Logitech S530 | Z-2300 speakers | NewerTech Guardian MAXimus RAID

Believe it or not, I have an old copy of CS1 installed on my 2007-vintage MacBook Pro running MacOS 10.6.8.
Version Cue does not run; it's broken on this system. (This was waaaaay before Bridge made its debut).
I'm tempted to try this. Do I have to download each one of the Mac links on this page? |

Just the items you need. I haven't since they don't work on my system. _________________ iMac 24" 2.4 GHz 4GB | Logitech S530 | Z-2300 speakers | NewerTech Guardian MAXimus RAID

| Strange that there is no standalone download for an Acrobat Pro for Mac; only Windows. Is Acrobat in the larger Mac CS bundle download? |

I just found out about this a few nights ago. I haven't used CS2 Illustrator since before downgrading to 10.5. So when I went to fire it up, it wanted to authenticate, but couldn't.
After looking up the problem, I did find the free downloads. Of course Adobe mentions that they are only providing the software for people that need to use it as it's old and could be dangerous!
Also, if they are disc images, then you should be able to just open them and run the relevant installers.
Finally, they aren't even providing them as the final versions! You need to download the updates! They don't even make it easy to find the updaters!

| Does this mean there's a catch to using them? Or are these downloads functional? |

The catch is that they are obsolete and not supported, and that they are only meant to be used by people that have the license to use them, and not a give away. The downloads are functional, but slow.

I tried downloading it, but the CS2 software kept crashing on my MacBook Pro, weeks later, my MacBook Pro itself died of an apparent logic board failure.
I do have an old G4 iMac running MacOS 10.4.11, but I haven't contemplated installing on that old machine. I may, though, just to see what happens.
If Acrobat Pro CS2 is available for download, how come I don't see it listed? |
