Hi,
I've got an older mac mini which can only run Lion (but not Mountain Lion). In order to avoid having to reinstall everything I thought about restoring that Lion mac to my new mac mini (the one with the Fusion drive) via the Time Machine Backup and then upgrade it from Lion to Mountain Lion ...
Does that make sense? And is it even possible with the Fusion drive? Does Lion work on a Fusion drive?
Or what other options do I have to transfer all my programs and data from the old one to the new one?
Thanks a lot! |

| I would just leave the ML install on the new one and use Migration Assistant to move your profile over. Otherwise, you could restore to the new mini with TM and then upgrade and let TM back it up. Then you can set up Fusion and restore again. |

I would also use the Migration Assistant, which supports Lion and Time Machine backups.
I would also note that Mountain Lion comes with a special edition of Disk Utility for the Fusion Drive. It really offers the only safe way to partition another space on the Fusion Drive. You can only do one extra one though. |
