HI All!
Just bought an I7 Mac mini, been a Windows user since 1989. Having got an Ipad I decided it was time for a change on the desktop! Spent most of last evening finding my way around the new OS, pretty easy to get to grips with.
Downloaded Hanbrake and it runs (with error regading 64 bit lib) files produced are scrambled anyone know of a solution?
Thanks in anticipation!

I'm guessing that by 'scrambled' you mean that you didn't do anything to remove the DRM on the DVD.

You can either pre-rip with something like MakeMKV, or use the libraries from VLC to disable the DRM.

Smithcraft is right, sounds like your DVD had DRM of some type.

I rip my DVDs with either MDRP or RipIt, this gives me a DVD Player Media Document. I then run Handbrake to transcode into the format I want.

I do this so that Handbrake isn't transcodeing directly from my DVD which can take a few hours to run and I don't want the wear and tear on my DVD drive. Plus I can rip several of my DVDs, then use the Handbrake queue to transcode all of them overnight. Finally, both MDRP and RipIt do a good job removing the DRM from the DVDs then the rip.

Smithcraft's options work as well.

Thanks for your reply's and help. Before I read them I had already gone and bought WinDVD Ripper for Mac, it seems to work but I will take a look at the suggestions you kindly gave.
Best wishes

Another suggestion before you buy any software head over to http://macupdate.com and search for it. You'll learn a lot by checking into the software. Sadly the developer of the program you bought does not have a very good reputation.

It's "sister" application is here http://macupdate.com/app/mac/42826/macx-dvd-ripper-pro

Any software that says "win" in it and it's for a mac is usually not very good. If anything it's a port from a Windows version.

I do hope it works for you.
