Are there any other benefits of taking a Late 2006 mini and hacking the firmware to 2,1? When it was still a Macmini1,1 I upgraded the CPU to a 2.0 GHZ Core 2 Duo, so that's covered. I guess I could max out the CPU to a 2.33 GHz, but I already think it runs a bit too hot.
I see that I could install Lion now. How about Mountain Lion? |

4GB (or really 3.3 GB) of ram , so a little extra headroom.

probably with some finagling you can get ML on it.
More importantly I want to thank all those who worked on this mod to get us all to 4GB installable ram. Followed the excellent thread and directions, and its breathed new life into my 1,1 macmini as an xbmc unit.
THANKS!! |

| Meant to stress the word "other". I already knew about the RAM, of course. In looking at the requirements for Lion or possibly Mountain Lion, that will be more hassle than it is worth. |
