| Hi, Just recently, after turning off (shut down) my mini (10.8.2) during the weekend and starting for the new week, most of the icons in stacks on dock disappeared in just showing up with dot-line squares! This never happened before since I bought my early 2009 model. Although I can still find and id the app I want by looking at the app title, it's really annoying and time consuming without being able to quickly scan the icons and click. Can anyone knowing the issue provide a fix to this? Thanks |

The old school Mac solution would be to Rebuild The Desktop. A time honored finger spanning key pressing start up routine.
In the searching I did to see if this was still done in OS X, it appears that it isn't needed.
In lieu of actual knowledge, perhaps give Onyx a spin and have it run the cron jobs to see if it gets cleaned up?

| Thanks, SC. Onyx does work and fix the problem, though it at the end still uses the re-start routine! |
