Hello all.
I have a new Mac Mini and it is my first Apple computer so I'm a bit of a frustrated apple virgin!
My mini is hooked via HDMI to my Stereo and then to my TV. I have watch shows via wifi (from my PC's) on it till recently. Suddenly no sound out of the stereo. Unless it is being played in VLC, and even then the icon must have the VLC symbol, Use quicktime, or open the show with VLC and no sound. Setting seem to be the same.
This just started. Apple gurus - help!! |

VLC overrides the default output settings on your Mac and will use its own.
If you go into VLC - Audio menu - Audio Device you can see which output its using.
Now on the menubar over on the right hand side, look for the Speaker icon. Before clicking on it, hold down the alt key and then click the speaker icon. holding the alt ket whilst you click will give you and alternate drop down view. In this you should see the output devices listed. Without the ALT key all you get is a volume control. Check that the output device is set to the same one as VLC is using. Its this one that all the other applications will be using. _________________ Phil
