I still have a disk version of iWork 09 I purchased a while ago. I've always wondered if this is the same as the iWork apps, or if I should be buying the apps to stay current? If anyone knows, it would be greatly appreciated.

You have the latest version of iWork. You just need to update to iWork 9.3 through Software Update. The other updates going through the Mac App Store are only for pre-installed iWork apps or ones purchased through the store itself. They are no different.

Thank you!! I've always wondered if there were any differences. I did get the update, and it seems like an improvement so far.

I'm actually hoping for an updated iWork in 2013. It seems overdue in many ways. Then again, those days are probably over with the Mac App Store. It's just going to come in the way of individual "iWork 2013" apps. Which is fine by me. I only really use Pages and Numbers anyways. I can't even remember the last time I opened Keynote.

I personally have no desire for an update to iWork, if Apple is going to keep pushing updates for free.

I use Pages quite a bit for page layout. I make all the signs in our Apple reseller store. I'm still learning a lot about Pages. I already find it to be an impressive product.

I use Numbers for very basic spreadsheets.

I don't use Keynote.
