LaCie today announced the release of their LaCie d2 USB 3.0 Thunderbolt Series external hard drives. According to the company, the LaCie d2 USB 3.0 Thunderbolt Series performs at speeds up to 180MB/s, twice as fast as FireWire 800 and nearly four times faster than USB 2.0. These speeds allow users to transfer a 10GB project in less than one minute. Pricing for the LaCie d2 USB 3.0 Thunderbolt Series starts at $299. It should also be noted that USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt cables are included in the box.

Nice that it has USB3 and Thunderbolt.
Just Thunderbolt was a real limitation for people wanting to have Thunderbolt but still had to connect to PCs and older Macs. |

I would be forced to use USB 3.0 at this point by using dual DVI-based displays with my Mac mini. I see no other practical way around of using Thunderbolt. I mean, short of buying a Thunderbolt display or LaCie's $200 eSATA Thunderbolt hub for daisy-chaining. |

Yah, no TB pass through on this drive. I didn't notice that. |
