Fix Coming for Flickering with 2012 Mac Minis

Well, here's a bit of good news. It appears that Intel has officially acknowledged the occasional screen flickering issues with the 2012 Mac mini being experienced by multiple users in our forums and on Apple's own support forums. This issue with the occasional screen flickering occurs when the Mac mini is connected to an external display using the HDMI port. Connections made with the Thunderbolt port, on the other hand, are not subject to the same issue. The acknowledgment from Intel also goes onto to say that a fix is on the way from Apple via an updated driver. An ETA could not be given though.

Mine doesn't flicker either, but I'm glad they are addressing the problem. Which basically sounds like a brief handshake problem. One that was seen as well with the 2011 Mac mini with HD 3000 graphics.

There has never been an Apple computer without issues. I have access to the system my Apple technicians use. There isn't a computer that I've ever punched in that doesn't have pages and pages of service notes.

If Apple had developed the processor, likely we wouldn't have seen this issue. Apple may start designing their own desktop processors some day. That will certainly help.

We have more people using Apple products, therefore we will see more potential issues.

I don't think we can simply chalk this up as poor quality control. Likely Apple is taking extensive measures to improve quality control on a daily basis, just like most companies do. It ongoing, especially in an industry that changes daily.

I've typed a couple of replies to this which I've just ended up deleting as they both turned into what looked like anti Apple rants.

I actually like Apple, just not what I perceive them to be turning into so I'll just leave it with,

Your not convincing me. Laughing

I changed my post quite a few times too:D
Everyone on this forum is always respectful and a difference in opinion usually just leads to good conversation.

You can't get that on most forums, that's what keeps us coming back to 123macmini.

I'll still try to convince you though Wink

I like when people aren't just iSheep and voice their opinion. Good or bad. It's the only way we can help Apple stay on track and strive for perfection. Other than speaking with our wallets.

I also hope they fix the color profile problem. How in the world did it get out of quality assurance? They must have been testing only with their Thunderbolt displays...
