I have a mid2011 Mac Mini I upgraded with two Intel 240GB 520Series SSDs some time ago.
Have not yet upgraded to mountain lion but will do in a few days time.
Would it be ok to use an SSD as Time Machine?
Thing is I sometimes bring the machine to work and don't want too much to carry - so internal drives is a big plus.
I do have a external FW800 drive I make regular cloned backups to.
Until now I have been running them as two separate drives, but don't really need all that storage as I have just finished building my new home server. _________________ :apple: Mac Mini DualCore i7 :: 2.7GHz :: 2x4GB DDR1867 :: 2x Intel520 240GB SSD for total 480GB :: Radeon HD 6630m :: Dell 2209WA :: Razer Mamba 2012 :: Apple Alu wired US keyboard w/ iSkin ProTouch black :: |

There is no problem using an SSD as a Time Machine Back-up drive, it's just not cost effective. Seeing you already own the drive and it is installed, no big deal.
What would make more sense though if you have the resources is to have a mechanical drive as the Time Machine drive and use the SSD for fast clones instead of the FW 800 drive. |
