How many displays can you use with a 2012 Mac mini? I think the number is three (two with Thunderbolt and one with HDMI), but I want to be sure.

That's a good question. I know the 2011 Mac mini with dedicated graphics supported using three displays. I know you can run two Thunderbolt displays with the HD 4000 Mac minis. I just don't know what happens with the HDMI port for video out. I would assume that it's still available, but I'm not 100% sure.

Your best bet is to stop by an Apple store and ask them directly.

I'm going to say no on three displays because this is what they say about the MacBook Pros with retina. Which, by the way, have the same Intel HD 4000 graphics.

Quote:
MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) and MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012) computers can use an HDMI-compatible device on it's HDMI port while using one Thunderbolt dislplay, or it can use two Thunderbolt displays.

I haven't read anything confirming two thunderbolt displays with another through HDMI, making three total. Has anyone been able to confirm this?
