Apple Posts Support Page for Fusion Drive

If you're thinking about getting a Fusion Drive in your late 2012 Mac mini or iMac, you may want to check out Apple's new support page for the drive. It covers everything from the basics to creating extra partitions, running Boot Camp, and using the drive in Target Disk Mode. The support page also includes a troubleshooting section, which details a unique version of Disk Utility that comes with the Fusion Drive. They also mention that earlier versions of Disk Utility can't be used with a Fusion Drive. So, as you can see, it really covers a lot of different subjects. Check it out!

| So you can do Boot Camp with the 1TB Fusion, but not the at 3TB? That's going to be a deal breaker for some looking at one for the iMac. |

| First off, I'm not in the market for a new Mac mini. If I were though, I would probably go with the i7 Mac mini and throw a Samsung 830 SSD in the thing in addition to the stock 1TB hard drive. I just like the idea of that combination better. That's not saying the Fusion Drive is a bad drive though. I just like the idea better. Plus, this is still a new thing with Apple. I think you're always better off waiting a generation or until the second run. Even though this just sort of sounds like a hybrid drive at heart. |
