|
|
Last week some strange things started to happen. All of a sudden my keyboard did not respond anymore. I had this a few times and then a reboot would solve this. But not this time. Keyboard is attached to hub in Maccessity monitor stand, so I plugged it in my Dell monitor. That worked, so 'broken hub' (BTW Macessity hasn't answered to my mail of 4 days ago) After typing for 10, 15 minutes, keyboard stopped again! Now I got worried. Another reboot fixed it, but temporary again. Sometimes I got 10 minutes, sometimes over an hour, but not good. I also noticed at reboot, it took a while before the reboot happened after de screen got dark like the led on the mini was lingering for a while?? After checking Macfixit, I installed IOUSBfamily.kext and now I can type. BUT: Keyboard sometimes behaves erratic, hanging of certain letters.... like thissssssssssss...
Moreover I found out, there are several things not working anymore, I'm thinking all have to do with a power issue. USB hard drives, including usb sticks, firewire, even bluetooth seem not to connect anymore... Strangely enough, my wife could print from her Powerbook to the printer connected to the mini via shared printer...
I am actually looking at new computers, but will a new power brick (good aftermarket?) will solve this problem? _________________ ___________________Jim©

I've got iStatMenu's running and it says 49ºC for the hd. I'll run Fan control and see what it says... _________________ ___________________Jim©

Its probably not this but I'd also check all of your USB ports and unplug and unnecessary peripherals. I've had it before with a PC where something was shorting out within one of the USB sockets and decking the 5v supply to the USB. _________________ Phil

Well, printer, scanner, wireless mouse and keyboard works (all usb), not HD, USB stick, firewire and bluetooth.... _________________ ___________________Jim©

OK fan control installed, have set fan speed a bit higher as Mini temperature was higher as the HD (57ºC) and because of increasing the fan speed a bit, it gone cooler... Don't know if it will help anything? _________________ ___________________Jim©
