What do you guys think of these other Tablets with Android installed? I see Motorola is coming out with their Xoom, and Samsung has one out or coming soon also.

Just to note - I haven't played with an iPad yet.
I have tried the Samsung Galaxy S at Costco for a few minutes. It wasn't too bad, and the smaller size seemed ok for what I would want to use it for.
I think it was the Archos tablet that I tried at some office superstore. It was ok, but the pressure I had to apply to the panel to get it to do anything was way too much. My finger tip was white as a ghost trying to get it to do anything!
Just from the video, the Xoom looks super awesome, but I'm reluctant to pay a monthly fee for 3G service, and from the comments there will not be a Wifi only version.

I did get to play with an iPad last summer at our family reunion. I must say it is an awesome machine. I haven't touch any other but yes, the picture of the Xoom looks pretty awesome also. I wonder what will the price point be for it and others. I guess 3G always an issue too.
Right now I'm using Clear Wimax USB dongle for 3G/4G internet and it only works with Intel Macs and of course Windows. It disappointed me after I signed up it wouldn't work with PPC or Linux. _________________ G4 Mac Mini | 1.25ghz | 1gb | 40gb | OS X 10.4.11 | 37" Westinghouse HDTV

I don't think that the iPad's battery life, full integration and efficiency can be beat personally. what is the draw of these catchup pads? price, OS?
Apple did it right, and spent years building touchscreens, first the iPad prototypes, then the iPhone, and Touch. |

| Apple got it down. ESP when the others are still using a phone only version of droid. The iPad is king, the apps are so much better than anything available for droid. |

But Sony products are costlier and it'd be interesting to see will sony keep the tablet costs same as apple ipad or more. Another important thing that competitor may lack is a huge App store to the comparison of Apple's |

I have a Nook Color that has been "rooted" so that it is a full Android table with access to the Market for apps and I love it, it does everything I want and it is small, (7 inches) and only 250.00. I think Apple should have come out with a smaller version of the iPad, the 10 inch one just is too big for my needs, however I still think the iPad is a cool device. _________________ Mac Mini 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM 500GB HD

| I don't own an iPad yet, though I already have an ICS Android tablet. I love my android and Apple devices, but if there's such thing as an Apple tablet, like my iPhone features in a tablet with smaller size, then I would be very happy. |

Ok let me explain something.....
Android tablets are not bad but pay more then 99.99 for one or you will have many issues.
And i do mean many.
Stay away from tablets made by digix all though tempting because of there small price tag they take 5 min to load they lag horrible and they don't update worth a jack.
spend 499.99 to 399.99 for a android tablet but be forwarned transfering files only works in windows almost all android tablets are windows rigged
i would honestly purchase a ipad or find a better solution |

I've just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 tablet and have it for two weeks now. The deal that convinced me to buy was the Student Edition, which includes a keyboard dock and USB adapter.
I was going to go for the Google Nexus 7 but after hearing all the issues and no sd card slot was another reason I went with the T2.
Just a thought! _________________ G4 Mac Mini | 1.25ghz | 1gb | 40gb | OS X 10.4.11 | 37" Westinghouse HDTV

How are you finding it Ghostdawg?
I'm quite interested in the new Kindle Fire HD. We don't have it in the UK yet but I'll be keeping an eye on that leading up to Christmas. _________________ Phil

So far I'm having a ball with it, but it seems Mrs. Ghostdawg has taken it over and play with it more than me.
I guess I'll have to get the Nexus 7 for Christmas!
After using it awhile, now my Android phone feels so tiny. _________________ G4 Mac Mini | 1.25ghz | 1gb | 40gb | OS X 10.4.11 | 37" Westinghouse HDTV

I was sort of hoping for an iPad mini at the recent iPhone announcement as I find my iPad is great around the house but its just too bulky when out and about. My mobile phone though is too small. _________________ Phil

That is what I hear others say about 10 inches tablets, they are fine around the home or work but when out and about, it can be heavy and bulky.
I think alot of people are waiting on Apple to come out with the mini ipad, if at all, and hopefully have a nice sweet spot on the price. I believe it will be a hit with sales. _________________ G4 Mac Mini | 1.25ghz | 1gb | 40gb | OS X 10.4.11 | 37" Westinghouse HDTV
