|
|
Just upgraded to Mountain Lion (on July 26. 2012).
I downloaded it from the Mac App. Store and just
followed the prompts after double clicking the
Intaller Package. Everything seemed to go
smoothly.
Ok, my problem is I watch hulu in Safari and
I get sound but no Image. Its playing but the
area that wold normally have the video image
is just Black.
Does anyone on 123Macmini watch/use hulu?
How's it working for you?
I also have the same problem with Youtube.
I get sound buy no Video Image, just Blackness.
How's Youtube working for you?
Thanks!!! _________________ 2011 Mac mini 2.7 GHz i7 with

Well, I had installed flash player in Lion
and everything has worked just fine. So I
fired up the MacBook Air which I had upgraded
to Mountain Lion first. Looked at my System
Preference and flash player was still installed
from Lion. I launched safari and logged into
my hulu account........BUT.......before Safari
would let me see the hulu site it suggested I
upgrade flash player which was out of date.
So I updated flash and everything is fine with the
Air.
The same things SHOULD have happened with
Mountain Lion on the mini. They didn't. Latter today
I'll boot into Mountain Lion on the mini and take
a look at the version of flash player in my System
Preferences. Maybe I can upgrade from their.
Thanks for the suggestion. It may be flash player
is several versions to old and auto update may be
turned off. That sounds like what may be wrong.
Sometimes two heads are better that one.
Thanks for pointing out a flash problem! _________________ 2011 Mac mini 2.7 GHz i7 with

Ok, well, things are worse with Safari on the mini.
Here's what I did. I knew "flash" would be out of
date and not function so I launched Safari and
opened System Preferences then clicked on Flash
Player to access its Update section which I then
did. HA, HA, HA, Safari crashed. Safari now will
launch but won't open and then crashes.
I'm not quite sure what I'll do next. I would like to
uninstall Safari which I think is now impossible and
then download it new and fresh from the App. Store.
You can't install Safari twice so as long as the App.
Store see's that I have Safari already installed it won't
let me do it agin.
Any suggestions on how to Uninstall Safari so I can
download the newest version???????
Anyone? _________________ 2011 Mac mini 2.7 GHz i7 with

So I uninstalled "flash" and Safari still
won't launch without crashing. WTF is
going on?
For those who are interested I'm using
iCab and Roccat for my browsers.
Firefox is such a BIG BLOATED SLOW
POS I won't use it and I tried Chrome
a while back and didn't like it as much
as I had expected to so I like using the
smaller faster less known Browsers.
Give them a try, don't expect to make
them your primary Browser(s) but
familarize yourself with them in case
you wind up like me. _________________ 2011 Mac mini 2.7 GHz i7 with

Ok, I don't know how "AppCleaner" did it
but that App was successful in uninstalling
Safari 6.0. Since I no longer have Safari
I simply launched the App Store so I could
download a fresh version of Safari when
the App Store detected it wasn't installed.
Problem is, since your not supposed to be
able to uninstall Safari since its a core App.
apparently the AppStore doesn't check to
see if its installed.
So now I can't download safari because its not
available anywhere. Well, I fired up the MacBook
Air and AirDropped its version of Safari to the
mini and installed it. That MF still launches then
crashes.........geeze and AppDelete won't/can't
uninstall this version of Safari that I AirDropped.
Man, things just keep getting weirder and weirder.
Since "eks" so kindly provided a link for the Safaris'
Nightly builds I'll give that a try. Stay tuned. _________________ 2011 Mac mini 2.7 GHz i7 with

Thanks eks, the Nightly Build crashes just
like Safari 6. Something else has to be
going on. I may have to install a fresh
version of Mountain Lion on the mini.
I was trying to avoid that. Lucky me!!!!
I've been thinking about getting a 27" iMac
maybe I will do that and use this mini as a
door stop. Oh wait, its not heavy enough for
that. _________________ 2011 Mac mini 2.7 GHz i7 with

You should be able to run the ML installer again without anything changing other than Safari? _________________ 2.0 GHz i7 Mini 8 GB RAM, OWC Merc Extreme SSD & Samsung Spinpoint

ez thanks for the suggestion, I'll have to google
how to do that. I had downloaded ML from the
AppStore and upgraded by simply double clicking
the installer. The Installer removes itself after its
finished so I had the forethought to download a
second copy of the ML Installer. _________________ 2011 Mac mini 2.7 GHz i7 with

Hold option key, click on purchased, to redownload
I made a bootable installer key before installing ML. It's sort of takes that fun out of simply running the new OS, but I enjoy the techy stuff even more I'll probably make another image on a DL DVD as a backup, just incase I forget that ML is on the USB stick and I accidentally delete it or end up needing the USB stick for something else.
I'm going to do a clean ML install later tonight or this week, just to experiment and go through the process. So far the only issue I have noticed is the inability to change my wallpaper. My guess is that issue will go away. I haven't read about anyone else having the issue.
Have fun Billb |

Can i recommend something else.
I beta tested Mountain lion and upgrading from lion all though works can have some issues.
Do a fresh install of mountain lion without lion or snow installed format and start again. |

So I wiped the Internal HD from a Clone
then re-Installed ML then imported my
latest Time Machine backup which had
the corrupted Safari App. hoping all of
my passwords and preferences would
import without the bad/corrupted parts
into a good new fresh Safari App. but
that also failed. Safari still CRASHES.
I've been thinking about buying a 27"
iMac. If I import my Time Michine Backup
into a new iMac will the corrupted Safari
App. also corrupt an iMac like it did to
the mini??????
Can I uninstall Safari from my Time Machine
backup? If I do that will importing Time machine
into a new iMac leave the iMac's version alone
or will that somehow still "F up" iMac's Safari?
Ok, ok............how can I re-install the oldest
version of just Safari from my T.M. backup and
no other App's or info???? One of the older T.M.
backups may not be corrupted.
Anybody?????? _________________ 2011 Mac mini 2.7 GHz i7 with

This is what has seemed to work. I'm using
Safari to type this. First of all it is unlikely
that Safari is damaged but is probably
a support file so I restored Safari to its
initial state by dragging to my Desktop
these Safari folders:
~/Library/Safari/
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
This forces safari to rebuild these missing
files on relaunch.
Then I launched a Virgin Safari. It launched
for a millisecond then crashed. @#%&* so
I though I would send Apple a message.
When an App. crashes the Crash Report
Window appears. I typed some nasty comments
and dragged them into the Crash Report Window.
My intention was to Launch & Crash & send my
nasty comments to Apple ALL AFTERNOON
over and over again while I watched TV.
Yes, I know, cool........... I'm frustrated
through no fault of my own. Anyway, after
about the twenty fifth or thirtieth crash
Safari stopped crashing........go figure.
Its been stable for several hours now.
I quickly updated two Clones. So thats where
I am right now. So far everything seems
fine.
Stay tuned.
I forgot, make sure you Repair Permissions
before, during and after you drag those Safari
Support Folders to your Desktop. _________________ 2011 Mac mini 2.7 GHz i7 with
