I am considering replacing the internal boot drive (which just failed) of a late 2009 mini with an SSD. This will hold the OS (10.6), applications, libraries (most data will remain on an external HD). Based on current prices I am looking at units in the 160 to 256GB capacity. I am not finding much clear information on SSD compatibility - some questions-
- Is SATAIII compatible with this Mini (I see some claims that it works but only at quarter speed maximum, making SATAII preferable, this due to the Mini SATA interface, not specific to SSD).
- Is there any list of specific units which have worked more or less well in this Mini (or individual experiences would be appreciated)
- Any issues to be aware of with respect to firmware or TRIM, in general or for specific product lines.
- Any specific experiences with teh OCZ Vertex Plus R2?
