I Just bought a Macmini, which I want to use just to run attached to my HiFi installation. I have a macbook air to access the mini.
I thought I could also do the installation of the machine through the mac book air, gave it not much thought, but my 'unconfigured' mini does not appear visible at my MBA. I could hook de MM to my TV set, but do I really need to borrow a USB keyboard and mouse just for installation? Or can I do the installation with my MBA (or even with my old Macbook pro G4)? |

You will need a keyboard and mouse for set-up _________________ 2.0 GHz i7 Mini 8 GB RAM, OWC Merc Extreme SSD & Samsung Spinpoint

Have you tried Apple Remote Desktop ? http://www.apple.com/remotedesktop/
I used to control my mini via ARD when it was hooked up to the TV, although I'm not sure if I had to allow remote access first. I'm on my iPad at the moment, I'll give it a try tomorrow and report back. _________________ Phil

Most certainly not. Perhaps other OS's allow a user to control a computer directly out of the box with another machine, but I would suggest that would be a security issue. _________________ 2.0 GHz i7 Mini 8 GB RAM, OWC Merc Extreme SSD & Samsung Spinpoint
